The CASTS – First Attempt

The day taught me

• You don’t need to panic, 4 mins is enough time
• Don’t laugh in the cast it will show in the mold
• Keeping super still and super quite makes the best molds
• Hair is tricky and you need to work the alginate around the eyebrows
• Pay special consideration to the corners of the eyes and nose
• For the purpose of first attempts, plaster of paris being so soft is great as I can correct my errors but will need a harder plaster for Jams cast
• Even though the cling film did work, ears being covered would have made for an easier application bald caps are too expensive just for casting – so I have bought some swimming caps for next time
