Berton ‘Bertie’ Demeanour was born with his twin brother on a hot 10th August, amidst the threat of a tornado in Clay Albaham and the The Trussville Tribune reported they were not expected by doctors to survive the night.  

• The younger of the twins at school Bertie enjoyed creative writing and he wishes to be a great playwright.
• Bertie persuaded Benny to stage their own first show consisting of a ventriloquist act he had scripted using Bertie as the puppet and a few magic tricks,
•  They hung curtains and made hand drawn programmes and charged the audience. 
• They were both naturals with the audience and any of Kitty’s previous reservations about them joining the family business were dispelled.  As a keen writer and lithographer Bertie still takes an interest in helping with the show’s program.

Benjamin ‘Chester Blinky’ Demeanour It took Benjamin a while to find his way and he believed at one point he would study to be a Lawyer, this was however short lived once he found his talent, making the audience laugh.

• His family decided to set up the permanent feature you are witnessing today 
• and he is currently master of properties, treasurer and ticket seller.  
• When he is not busy performing at the Carnival of Curiosities he is available for parties, parades and special events.
• Benny curates the Clown room of the museum and has collected an array of historical artifacts and memorable 

Sophie Demeanour comes from a long line of circus performers her parents and their parents before them have all dazzled the crowds.  

• Sophie has been performing with animals since she was a baby and has assisted her grandma in the presentation of ponies, alligators, bears, elephants and dogs.  She would teeter-totter amongst the animals and feed them from bottles .
• Before she had mastered the art of the knife throwing, she would go through the marvelous performance of walking with her little bare feet upon a ladder of keen-edged swords, and her very expert act never fails to win rounds of applause.   She broadened her act to include sword swallowing and marksmanship and trained under ‘The Amazing Melies’. 
• Her act varies from year to year and she enjoys introducing new novelties, emphasizing grace and beauty of presentation she is currently focused on the impalement arts, her favourite of which, The Wheel of death, she will perform here today with her beautiful assistant KITTY She now resides as one of the star attractions for your viewing pleasure tonight and her success so far means her future looks bright.
•  She shares her grandma’s keen interest in the paranormal, helping her care for  and collect artifacts of historical interest for the Seance room.

Magnolia’s mesmerising Menagerie Although the public now know her simply as Magnolia she was Christened Sybil Anne Pixley and the circus wasn’t always her life.  

• Her early years were spent on a farm and she took a keen interest in caring for the animals, this led her to pursue a career in medicine, training to be a nurse.  
• In this profession a chance accident would lead to the beginning of Carnival of Curiosity for she met Daniel at the time a detective, shot in the line of duty.  
• The couple looked for other careers and 
• Daniel’s snake handling and riding skills and Sybil’s farm hand experience means they landed jobs caring for a later training the animals at a small travelling circus called Dudley’s. 
• Daniel and Sybil later married and both felt content in the circus and chose to raise a family there, having a girl and later grandchildren two boys and a girl.
• Sybil has held numerous jobs in the Circus throughout her time she was known as a famous lion, tiger and elephant expert animal trainer and manager of the menagerie in leading Circus’. 
• Sybil has always had a keen interest in the paranormal and was Mesmerised by Madame Jasmine who mystified audiences with her feats of mind reading.  The great mystic took the young girl under wing and introduced her to tarot readings, 
• the ouija board, 
• clairvoyance 
• and extrasensory perception.  
• Sybil has collected many curiosities on her travels and created the Seance room of the museum.

Daniel ‘Snake man’ Riley  Ringmaster, owner and performer. His career as a showman was spectacular. His success was attributed by those who knew him most intimately to his resourcefulness, keen foresight and faculty for overcoming every obstacle he encountered.  He operated Rudey’s Circus for several years, and toured with a snake charming show for 17 years. 

• Long before his time in the Circus Daniel had an illustrious career as a police detective, he decided however to leave the force after a series of gruesome murders known as the Dragonfly drowning which to this day remain unsolved, a cold case Daniel obsesses over.  It was however a childhood tragedy that led to his Circus career
• When Daniel was four his parents moved across the state from San Francisco, where he father worked as a ranch hand to Alabama to work at a timber mill, times were hard and to make matters worse two years later Regan, Daniel’s older brother died due to complications from a snake bite.  After this Daniel took a keen interest in snakes, to allay his fear and it was these skills that lead to his career as a prolific snake charmer.
• Daniel has traveled all over the world, most of the time being engaged in the show business
• He is married to Magnolia, father to Chester Blinky and Kitty and grandfather to Bertie and Benny Demeanour and The Riley Sisters.
• He would like to dedicate this performance to his family for keeping the passion alive and making him feel young.

Katrina ‘Kitty’ Demeanour was born under the big top. Her mother Sybil went into labour during one of the matinee performances. She is a trained trapeze performer,was an acrobat and aerial performer starting at age 5. Her signature act was performing acrobatics 100 feet off the ground and featured a headstand on a sway pole; she has gone on to specialise in contortion.

• In her teenage years she would spend any free time listening to the Sideshow acts telling stories and her love of the unusual and the exuberance of youth meant she would often get into verbal and at times physical fight defending the Sideshow performers from the more judgemental less embracing members of the general public.  She in fact is missing her pinky finger on her right hand because of one such incident.  
• Her pen friendship with Jay Demeanour had blossomed over time and she convinced him to come and join the circus. It was love at first sight for both of them.  She helped him hone his act and they have never looked back, together with her mother and father and children they run, maintain and perform at this permanent residence The Carnival of Curiosities.

Jay ‘The Amazing SongBird” Demeanour 

• Jay Demeanour who performs as The Amazing Song Bird is a bright and cheery man and with his wife he runs The Carnival of Curiosities.  
• Born with both maxillary and mandibular prognathism, his jaw protrudes at both the top and the bottom to give him a bird-like appearance.  He is often asked if it hurts and with a wide beak smile he states ‘You can’t be afraid to feel.’   
• He was born the son of a minister and school teacher who found her own way in the world when she literally ran away to the circus. He had many pen friends but enjoyed the stories shared by Katrina the most, who travelled the countryside with a touring circus, her, her brother, mother and father all performing in the circus.  
• She would talk of the famous sideshow performers, Layla the beaded lady, Ruby the pinhead or Tiny Boo the midget Clown.  He was especially fond of Albert the tattooed man who performed with wife Miss Talia the tattooed lady, and their tattooed dog Biggins, he marvelled at the idea of a tattooed dog.  
• He thought at the Circus he could find acceptance and when Katrina asked him to visit, he packed his bag and never looked back.  He felt he had found his place in the world and then he fell in love.  His fancy was taken by the flaming red haired contourist and he has been smitten ever since.  
•  Katrina Riley married Jay Demeanour with the blessing of their family and they had a family of their own, two beautiful twin boys conjoined and a girl.  Jay felt that he was best suited to care for such special individuals.   
• Jay is an internally renowned flutist and his act has been described as spellbinding, enthral, hypnotizing, bewitching and captivating but we will allow you to be the judge of that.
